Current design & technology initiatives:

  • Links are being forged between ourselves and Victoria
Community Technology school to access further expertise and
specialised equipment. This will enhance design and technology for our KS2 children. Sarah Randle from Victoria has already spent a term working with our yr 6 class, designing and making a textiles
project.

  • We are working with Ruth Speed of Axis to extend
opportunities for our pupils to experience activities associated with areas of engineering and manufacture. This will strengthen our links with local businesses.

  • With the Connexions organisation, our yr 6 class worked
Cooperatively to build a giant tetrahedron structure which eventually filled the school hall. New skills, team building, problem solving and communication skills were all benefits gained by the pupils. This was the first time such a project was run at a primary school and the adults involved commended the pupils for their mature approach to the task. A great success all round!

Many more initiatives are in the process of being developed. It is an exciting time for design & technology within our school!
